This body of work explores feelings of being overwhelmed and overworked. Creatives often have to wear multiple hats, and these pieces respond to the different aspects of one’s career; how these different aspects work together or against one another, inform and shape, but also contradict one another. The pieces explore this with a measure of humour. The subject matter explores different components of my career, specifically work as a researcher, an educator, an artist and a commercial illustrator and designer; as well as issues relating to personal life. Thus, the pieces consist of elements that are seemingly incompatible or contrasting, forced into an environment in as harmonious a composition as possible, speaking to a sense of creating harmony out of chaos (if not perhaps an easy harmony).
