Madder and Kohl is a collaborative art duo based in Cape Town, South Africa. Their collaboration blends art and design and is rooted in their common interests in street art, low-fi print techniques, and unconventional material use.
Their work is influenced and inspired by the pair's knowledge and interest in African design, ethnic textiles, tribal masks and graphic patterning. The Afrofemme series uses various techniques exploring graffiti, painting, printmaking, hand lettering and digital design. Before working together as artists since 2018, the pair worked together at the multi-disciplinary design studio, Fuel Design.
