Based on a snapshot of a familiar 1960s suburban setting, the painting focuses on the nondescript prefab wall with only a small part of the swimming pool visible in the right-hand corner of the painting. The painting technique enhances the slight blur and distinctive colour of old photographs, defamiliarising the very ordinariness and seeming banality of the subject-matter. The ordinary becomes uncanny, infused with memories and associations that each viewer may make.
