A night vision of a boogeyman after a strange sleepless night, channeling chaotic thought into image, neurons firing between brain and gut.
Later, taking on its own life, the boogeyman wanted to be a witch; the dark, shadow feminine character who seeks neither validation nor acceptance. Outcast, maybe, like the Black Madonna, who was written out of history through the destruction of her image and religious propaganda.
But the light shines through; truth is retained through memory and knowledge; and layers of colour and pattern are a reminder of her origins.
Painting is expressionist in style, on stretched canvas, ready to hang. Figure is life-sized.
