The fire and the storm

Abstract expressionism is at the core of all Verfaille's work as she delves into her own sense of self and the complexities of life through color, form and expression. She believes that layers have the power to create depth and dimensionality. And it's through layering that she can process the intricacies and narratives of human experience. This abstract artwork was created through moments of frustration and what she calls moments of magic. The juxtaposition of the fiery warm colors against the colder blues further highlights the contrasting emotions expressed in creating the work. True expressionism is the result.
