In Lady with Corn, fabric serves as a metaphor for the contemporary African experience. The vibrant textiles represent the rich cultural heritage that is both personal and shared across communities. Much like these fabrics, which travel as trade goods, gifts, and adornments, Africans themselves move and connect, carrying their traditions with them. The corncobs adorning the lady's head resemble a crown, a symbolic nod to Zimbabwe's staple food and a celebration of its national significance.
