Tamary Kudita's African Pot celebrates the powerful essence of Gladys, also known as Amai Chipo. Inspired by Gladys's regal demeanor as a market trolley pusher, Kudita created a garment that echoes her work apron, simultaneously challenging traditional femininity and imbuing Gladys with regality. Kudita envisions African landscapes as dynamic, shaped by human presence. The resilient cactus, storing water for survival, parallels Gladys' intricately crafted pot – both vessels of life. African Pot celebrates the harmony between nature's resourceful vessels and human creation, blurring boundaries of tradition, anthropology, and aesthetics.
