In this piece, I look at the idea of the dress as a fortress and how women used it to armour themselves against the ideals of a patriarchal society. The Kente cloth I use was traditionally viewed as a male cloth in Nigeria but I clothe the model in this attire to comment on gendered identities and pay tribute to the community which is reinventing themselves through cloth.
