Thoughts of a Black Man looks at masculinity through the lens of the sitter taking an introspective approach. Black men have a different social reality from their female counterparts. Themes of leadership, feelings, beliefs. They are familial, resilient, knowledgeable independent, attentive responsible. Thoughts of a Black Man magnifies the sitters voice. Using Zimbabwean fabric as a recurring motif indicates the society which raised him. The Zimbabwean bird symbolises the history of Zimbabwe and the star stands for the nations aspirations but is commonly used to socialism and the revolutionary struggle for freedom. So it becomes a conversation between the nations aspirations and the individuals aspirations
