Abstract expressionism is at the core of all Simone's work as she delves into her own sense of self and the complexities of life through color, form and expression. She believes that layers have the power to create depth and dimensionality. And it's through layering that she's able to process the intricacies and narratives of human experience. The abstract expressionist painting was made during Simone's solo art residency in France 2023 and was born out of fresh starts, harmonious discoveries and self-love. The expressive marks and warmth of colors was a direct response to her environment paired with the internal emotions surrounding the peace she was finding within.
