Christel Liebenberg is a visual artist who lives and works in Bellville, Cape Town.
She holds a bachelor’s in visual arts from UNISA and is currently in the process of
completing her master’s in visual arts.
Her creative practice stems from a broad interest in the relationship between people and their environments; how they attach meaning to spaces and places and how these meanings shape their interactions with the environments in which they live. The relationship between place and memory is a recurring theme in her work and this is often explored through the experimental use of time-based media. Although her practice includes a variety of mediums and techniques, she has a particular interest in experimental animation and alternative photography.
