Maike Bergold (b. 1995) is a German photographer known for her thoughtful blend of analogue and digital techniques. She studied media design until 2017 and then pursued photography at the University of Europe for Applied Sciences in Hamburg, graduating in 2021. During her studies, Maike's work was exhibited at the 7th Triennial of Photography in the exhibition "Forms of Other Rooms" at the Deichtorhallen.

Currently based in Frankfurt, Maike's approach to photography involves a deep engagement with mental health topics, drawing from her ongoing studies in psychology. She believes that photography can serve as a medium for exploring and expressing complex emotional landscapes.

Maike utilizes both analogue and digital methods in her work, finding that the slower, more deliberate process of analogue photography enhances her ability to capture the essence of everyday details. She appreciates how the unpredictability of analogue photography can lead to surprising and serendipitous results, enriching her creative process.

Her recent projects delve into personal and collective experiences, examining themes such as mental health, coming of age, and familial relationships. Maike's upcoming project will explore mother-daughter relationships, focusing on the evolving dynamics as daughters transition from childhood to adulthood.

Maike has participated in an artist residency at Studio Vortex with Antoine d'Agata in Arles, France, and worked at the Leica Gallery in Frankfurt. Her conceptual work emphasizes the importance of the idea behind each image, using photography to support and enhance her artistic vision.
