Staša Hlava
Staša Hlava (b. 1976, Johannesburg) is multidisciplinary visual artist based in Somerset West, South Africa. Her creative practice, inspired by the material relationships between human and non-human entities, explores everyday encounters and how they translate into new narratives that speak to future potentialities. Her work is practice-led and rooted in entanglement theory, addressing themes of human interaction with technology and the environment.
With a Bachelor's in Visual Art (BVA) from UNISA, completed in 2012, and a Diploma in Graphic Design from Ruth Prowse, obtained in 2001, Staša is currently pursing her Master's in Visual Arts (MVA) with Unisa.
Staša's body of work includes paintings, sculptures, and photography, reflecting on contemporary society with a touch of dystopian nuance, yet infused with hope for a better future. She thrives on collaboration and draws inspiration from fellow creatives, employing a range of techniques to create pieces that resonate on both visual and emotional levels.
As a freelance graphic designer and fine artist, she operates from her home studio in Somerset West. Staša's work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, including key galleries and museums such as the Association for Visual Arts Gallery.
