Woke up with a feeling of richness

Abstract expressionism is at the core of all Simone's work as she delves into her own sense of self and the complexities of life through color, form and expression. She believes that layers have the power to create depth and dimensionality. And it's through layering that she can process the intricacies and narratives of human experience. The abstract expressionist painting was made during Simone's solo art residency in France in 2023 and was born out of fresh starts, harmonious discoveries and self-love. This abstract painting directly responded to her environment, specifically the forests surrounding her studio in the French countryside. They were rich in dark green colors and one could not walk through the trees and feel overwhelming amounts of awe and peace at the same time.
