Born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in 1995, Abel Beyene is an interdisciplinary visual artist living and working in Addis Ababa. He studied art at Abyssinia Art and Vocational Training Centre for one year, and later at Teferi Mekonen School of Art from 2015 to 2018, where he refined his artistic practice.
Beyene works primarily with acrylic, oil, and collage, while also experimenting with digital media and photography. His work explores shifting human identities and their relationship to the state of the world, engaging with themes of history, diversity, knowledge, and migration.
