Turning Into Flowers
Turning Into Flowers is a multidisciplinary art project founded in 2017 that explores the deep kinship between people, plants, and ancestral memory in South Africa. Through performance, photography, projected imagery, and collaboration with botanists, healers, and land guardians, the project honours generational knowledge of the veld that has persisted despite colonial and apartheid-era dispossession. Rooted in remembrance, mourning, and renewal, Turning Into Flowers dreams of a city where indigenous plants and displaced communities return, and where humans once again live as stewards guided by the wisdom of the land.
