Jemila Isa (b. 1989, London) is a British artist of Nigerian heritage whose work explores spirituality, ancestral narratives, womanhood, and the complexities of self-identity within cultural tradition. Her multidisciplinary practice is rooted in personal and collective histories, often drawing on intangible forces and inherited memory.
In 2025, Isa presented her debut solo exhibition, Held by Invisible Hands. She has exhibited in several group shows, including In Her Spirit at Bolanle Contemporary in collaboration with Sadie Coles HQ, London (2025); Unvisited Dreams: Memories in Practice at Black Curatorial with Lofty Spot, London (2024); Catharsis at Chelsea Centre for Creative Industries, London (2024); and Works on Paper 6 at Blue Shop Gallery, London (2024).
Isa was awarded the Developing Your Creative Practice (DYCP) grant by Arts Council England in 2024 and completed the Black Blossoms Studio Residency in early 2025.
