Stella Ekpe Samuel is a multtidisciplinary artist based in Lagos, Nigeria. She holds a degree in Fine Arts and Design from the University of Port Harcourt, with a focus in painting. Her work explores themes of identity, womanhood, memory and personal storytelling, often using her own image as a central subject.
Known for her rich textures and layered surfaces, Stella works with materials like paper, broken glass, and fabric to create emotionally charged, tactile paintings. Through personal experimentation, she develoed a unique texturing technique using paper, layering and maipulating it to create ripplie like effects that echo waves of thought and feeling.
Her art reflects both quiet introspection nd cultural depth, drawing inspiration from everyday life and artists like Njideka Akunyili Crosby and Frida Kahlo. Stella has exhibited in several group shows, inculding October Rain at Gemini Gallery (2023), Artist Commune ot OneArtt Gallery (2024), and Plus234Art Fair in collaboration with Soto Gallery (2025). Her practice continues to evolve as she explores new ways to tell stories through material, form and emotion.
