Hloniphani (Mamba) Buthelezi (b. 1990) is a South African multidisciplinary conceptual artist whose
creative process spans from using found materials and objects to traditional printmaking and painting.
ForButhelezi, art is a channel for making sense of self, ancestry, and the world around him. As part of the
2025 Printmaking Workshop at The Arts Company Soweto, Buthelezi produced new works under the
theme 'Reimagining the Next 30 Years' inspired by the 1976 Student uprising in Soweto' in partnership
with Constitution Hill and the City of Johannesburg.
His recent projects include curating and facilitating
the ISIVIVANE Contemporary Art Exhibition (2024), participating in the Durban Art Gallery Group
Exhibition (2024), 'Deep in Thought' at virtual Cista Art Gallery in London (2023), His current work is
featured in the *Reimagining the Next 30 Years* exhibition at the Women’s Jail at Constitution Hill, and
questioning how the youth can shape their future beyond inherited visions. Buthelezi is a multidisciplinary artist who explores cultural memory, spiritual continuity, and socio-political critique through tactile engagement, storytelling, and critical reflection.
