Finger's work critiques societal dynamics by adopting the South African use of food as a naming culture, reflecting the experience of living between worlds of access and lack. Central to her artistic commentary is the concept of 'Cheese Girl', a distinctively South African term denoting class privilege and social distinction. Finger re-imagines "Cheese Girl" as an articulation of blackness as opulence, wealth, and luxury.
