Kirsty Tinkler
Kirsty Tinkler (b. 1971, Australia) holds a BA in Sculpture from the National Art School (1995–1999) and an MA in Sculpture from the Royal College of Art (2007–2009). After relocating to Cape Town in 2024, she completed the Sessions Studio Programme led by Dominique Edwards in 2025.
Tinkler’s practice spans wall-based reliefs, objects, and large-scale, site responsive installations presented internationally. Her work negotiates the line between formal material, visceral inquiry and contextual research. Engaging with historicism and speculative thought, she interrogates Western classical traditions, questioning linear narratives and fixed interpretations.
Her first solo exhibition, Hoist, was presented at the University of Suffolk Waterfront Gallery (2011). Subsequent solo projects have included collaborations with London’s Vitrine Gallery, WW Gallery (Patio Projects), Quare Offsite Projects, and Shift Gallery. In 2024, she presented Vessel, her most ambitious solo exhibition to date, supported by Dalston Pier, London.
