Nuits Balnéaires

Artist Nuits Balnéaires

Nuits Balnéaires was born and raised in Abidjan in an Akan Agni-bona and Malinké family. A multidisciplinary visual artist and poet from Côte d'Ivoire, his work is deeply rooted in tradition, culture and spirituality.

He attempts to capture the multiple mechanisms that underlie time and the correlation between life and death. Nuits Balnéaires attempts to create a parallel space-time outside geographical constraints, while embracing the universality of the oceans and the way they connect worlds and universes. Nuits Balnéaires' works have been exhibited in multiple exhibitions in Côte d'Ivoire, South Africa, France, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Australia.

His series ‘The Power of Alliances’ 2021, inspired by the symbols of the seven founding families of the N'zima Kôtôkô community of Grand-Bassam, was exhibited at ArtXLagos, at the 1-54 contemporary art fair at Christie's in Paris, and revealed in its complete version during his first solo exhibition in Canada, presented at the 2024 Contact Photo Festival in Toronto.
