Danielle Vorster

Danielle Vorster
Danielle Vorster is a South African contemporary artist based in Riebeek West, working primarily with monotype, ink, thread, and mixed media. Her practice explores abstraction, mapping, and memory through layered mark-making, repetition, and a process that follows instinct before logic. Working from a liminal place, a space of crossing rather than arrival, scribbles, scratches, and broken marks become a way of thinking without words. The work sits between abstraction and figuration, asking for a slower, more attentive way of looking. Her practice draws on cartography, archeological systems, and psychological mapping. Repeated lines, grids, and fragmented forms reference both physical terrain and internal landscapes, exploring how memory, place, and perception are constructed and held. Vorster holds a BA from Rhodes University, triple-majored in Art History and Visual Culture, Journalism & Communication Design, and Afrikaans & Dutch. She committed fully to her practice in 2024. In October 2025 she held her first solo exhibition, Persistent Traces, at Solo Studios in the Riebeek Valley. That same year she participated in Art on Loop (Amsterdam), and in 2026 exhibited at the Art.b Gallery Annual Members Exhibition. She maintains an active studio in the Riebeek Valley, developing new work and sharing selected pieces through exhibitions and her online gallery.
