Given Muronga, 24, a Pretoria-born artist, discovered his love for art through the unexpected influences of township life. Storytelling and creativity became his passion. He matriculated from Pro Arte Alphen Park Performing and Creative Arts High School with top honours in art and design. Muronga’s work is deeply rooted in cultural heritage, drawing from personal experiences and the visual language of his upbringing.
He has been recognised as a Top 10 finalist in the 2021 StateoftheART Gallery Award and achieved a major milestone with a sold-out alumni showcase at the State Theatre. His work has earned commissions from the The Artbank Museum under the PESP5 Art Creating Programme from 2022 to 2024. He is a 2024 RMB Talent Unlocked alumni and is mentored by artists such as Senzeni Marasela, Thabang Lehobye and Layziehound Coka.
