Keith Hennin

Artist Keith Henning

Keith Henning (b.1982, South Africa), currently lives and works in Cape Town. In 2024 Henning completed his postgraduate diploma in Fine Art at the Michaelis School of Fine Art, at the University of Cape Town. Originally developing a practice in design, founding the well-known AKJP design store and clothing label, Henning has expanded his material interests into sculpture, working primarily in steel and ceramic.

Most recently, the artist presented WATERSPORTS — Not for public consumption, at RESERVOIR in Cape Town. This marked Henning’s third solo exhibition, expanding on the body of work which was exhibited at the Michaelis Gallery upon conclusion of his studies in 2024. In 2023 the artist presented PUMPED at The Fourth Gallery in Cape Town, South Africa. In 2023 his work was included in the group exhibition, Hello Stranger at Bhalla Munro, New York, USA. In 2019 Bad Paper Editions presented Henning’s work at AKAA Art and Design fair, Paris, France, and the Investec Cape Town Art Fair, Cape Town, South Africa.

Keith Henning’s contribution to material and design discourse has been recognised by TWYG, who in 2021 awarded him the Sustainability Prize in 2021, and Cape Wools as the Designer Competition Winner in 2018. In 2021 Zeitz MOCAA exhibited his work in 21 Years of South African Fashion. His work is included in the Zeitz MOCAA Permanent Collection.
