Mwamba Chikwemba born in Kitwe, Zambia in 1992 lives in Lusaka, Zambia. Coming from a Public
Administration and IT background, Mwamba is a trained artists from the Schooling of the Council of Visual
Artists in Zambia. She describes herself as a painter, street artist and print maker drawing inspiration from a
combination of art movements like portrait and figurative art. Mwamba is influenced by artists like
Geoffrey Phiri, Daut Makala, Agness Buya Yombwe, Frida Kahlo, Jenny Saville and Wycliffe Mundopa.
In June 2016 she was selected as the artist of the year under German Embassy Lusaka, taking part in a
number of local workshops on printmaking and painting. She has done several public murals in Lusaka,
Livingstone, Kampala, Antananarivo to Johannesburg. Mwamba has also gone through schools of learning
and residency at Modzi Arts (Zambia), Nafasi Art Space (Tanzania), Is’art Galerie (Madagascar) and Great
More Studio (South Africa). She has been awarded the Push Women Award, winner of the Cynthia Zukas
young artist award and been granted the Summer academy of fine arts in Austria, Salzburg on relief Printing and Pronto Plate Lithography.
