Misa Boshoma Tinkie

Artist Misa Boshoma Tinkie

Misa Boshoma Tinkie is a South African Artist, her art stems from a deeply personal journey and a desire to express the complex emotions of womanhood and social struggle. She explore the expectations placed on women and the silent battles they endure- between self-blame, judgment, and the search for freedom.

Working mainly in printmaking, especially cyanotype, monotypes and linocuts, she embrace both control and unpredictability. The process often produces smudges or fading, symbolizing the fragility of emotions and the shifting nature of identity. Her recurring blue floral patterns, inspired by Chinese vase designs, represent how women are often valued like delicate objects-cherished until “cracked”, when their worth is questioned though their essence remains intact.

Through her work, she challenge these perceptions and reclaim the authenticity pf womanhood. She aim to create a space where silenced emotions can be seen, shared, and understood-reflecting both her own experiences and those of countless others.
