Ntombifuthi Mdunge
Rorkes Drift was established in 1962 by the Swedish missionaries, Ulla and Peder Gowenius. A Fine Art School was included in the activities during its 20 years of existence with three main production sites; weaving, ceramics and printmaking. Their purpose is cited “To nurture the unique artistic heritage of Africa. To extend this heritage with new influences so that it will find its rightful place in an evolving and changing society.” Rorkes Drift has been the home of important artists like John Muafangejo, Azaria Mbatha, Bongi Dlomo, Pat Mautla, Paul Sibisi, Thami Jali and others. The establishment also consists of many recognised artists and crafter such as Philda Majozi, Emma Dammann, Ntombifuthi Mdunge and Sarah Molefe.
