Salami Azeez (b. 1993, Lagos) is a visual artist whose work explores the human condition through expressive, figurative painting. Working with oil, acrylic, and mixed media, he employs vibrant colour, rich textures, and symbolic elements to engage themes of resilience, vulnerability, and identity.
A recurring motif in his practice is the game of chess, which he reimagines as a metaphor for life—highlighting its strategies, sacrifices, and unpredictable turns. Influenced by his upbringing in Lagos’s communal environments, Azeez draws from everyday human experiences, creating works that invite reflection, dialogue, and emotional connection.
He holds a Diploma in Fine Art from Yaba College of Technology and a degree in Visual Arts (Painting) from University of Lagos. His work has been exhibited across Nigeria and internationally, including in Austria, Algeria, and South Africa. In 2025, he was commissioned by Tikera Africa to paint Queen Mary of Denmark during her visit to Nigeria.
