Tshogofatso Nkhumeleng, fondly known as I.N.I, is a visual artist born and raised in the vibrant community of Soweto, Johannesburg. His artistic journey began after overcoming early academic challenges, finding his true calling at the Sapebuso Primary School's Room13 art studio. Here, under the mentorship of resident artist John Vusi Mfupi, his passion for art was ignited. This early guidance proved fruitful when, in 2009, he won his first major art competition hosted by Webber Wentzel and participated in the Joburg Art Fair. In 2010, he contributed to a significant mural project for the FIFA World Cup held in South Africa.
Throughout his time at Emadwaleni High School, I.N.I continued his artistic development at the Room13 studio at Saint Martin's Catholic School, where he was mentored by Nkosana Ngobese, who taught him both the creative and business aspects of the art world.
Following his passion, I.N.I pursued a three-year course in Printmaking at the prestigious Artist Proof Studio (APS). His dedication culminated in several group shows in 2019 with his peers, exhibiting at Artist Proof Studio, in Cape Town, and with Strauss & Co. In 2020, his potential was further recognized when he was selected for a special projects internship at APS, where he currently works as a gallery assistant, continuing to build his career from within the heart of Johannesburg's art community.
