Artist Drujorn Brink
Year 2025

He explores themes of culture using religious and cultural symbolism to connect and explore his identity and relation to his Coloured race and heritage as a modern-day South African. The symbols he uses, namely bones, shields, fish, the human figure, compasses, and many more, are relatable to everyone’s walk of life as well as personal. This is to emphasise our relativity as people, independent of what our religion or lack thereof is, culture, or country. Drujorn’s work is at times driven by the inspiration of the political climate in South Africa and seeks to impact all viewers, sparking thought and introspection of their own culture, religion, and country. Through his art, he explores personal perspectives he has picked up through various experiences as a child or in the present day.
