Amasaka Gallery
Amasaka Gallery, established in 2020 by artist Collin Sekajugo in Masaka, Uganda, is a dynamic space dedicated to showcasing and nurturing emerging artistic talent. Located in the heart of Masaka, a culturally rich and diverse hub, the gallery offers a platform for local and regional artists to experiment and push boundaries of contemporary art. Its founding mission is to provide mentorship and support for artists, fostering a creative environment where innovation thrives.
Rooted in Sekajudo's Weaver Bird Residency program, Amasaka Gallery emphasizes growth, experimentation, and collaboration. The gallery features a range of artistic practices, from photography to painting and installation, and has become a beacon for artists seeking to challenge traditional artistic conventions. With its satellite space in Kampala and collaborations with art spaces around the world, Amasaka Gallery is redefining the regional art scene, inviting the "center" to look beyond its confines. Despite its relative youth, the gallery has already contributed significantly to both the local and international art communities through exhibitions, art fairs and collaborative projects.
