Givan Lötz | A Bell Is Ringing in the Empty Sky

In a series of encaustic wax paintings, “A Bell is Ringing in the Empty Sky” unearths the unstable terrain between inner and outer. The surfaces—layered, molten, luminous—evoke a shifting inner landscape, less like paintings, more like relics from a dream archaeology. 

Here, the reveries burn out only to be re(de)formed in wax: matter holding time in suspension, the scenes looming closer in their abstraction. You are invited into a world you might recognise but can’t quite explain.
