Association for Visual Arts Presents Notes from the Fire
In a world defined by acceleration and consumption, what does it mean to leave a mark?
Notes from the Fire is a multidisciplinary solo exhibition by Givan Lötz. Presenting work of visual speculative fiction, Lötz imagines a time after time. Wax, casting, and surface serve as residues of a world forged in fire — an enduring imprint of heat, loss, and survival.
Set within the speculative era of the Pyrocene, the exhibition unfolds as a fragmented archive of the future. Carbonised artefacts, coded surfaces, and partial systems speak to a reality in which knowledge is no longer stable, and meaning must be excavated rather than consumed.
With surfaces cryptic and functions opaque, Notes from the Fire invites reflection and curiosity from its audience, presenting traces of a world disturbingly familiar yet wonderfully strange.
The exhibition gestures toward the urgency of climate collapse driven by human consequences, while resisting complete moral closure and resolution. Instead, it holds space for endurance where something stubbornly human remains: the impulse to mark, to remember, to leave a signal in the ashes.
This show runs from 23rd April - 23rd July 2026.
