Treasure Mlima. (b. 1999)
Treasure Mlima is a self-taught South African visual artist. Born in Durban, Mlima grew up in a coloured (mixed race) community which has influenced how he expresses the spectrum of being black. A background in Architectural Draughting, from the Academic Institute of Excellence has equipped him to carve his multitude of experiences through a vantage point that reflects an abstracted-surrealistic narrative. Mlima captures moments of everyday experiences by combining abstraction and minimalism. His influences are dually reflected in a visual composition of African contemporary narratives.
