9 to 5 is a work consisting of two clocks side by side with the words ‘beg, borrow, steal, plunder’ and ‘live, laugh, love, cry’ replacing the 3, 6, 9 and 12 hour marks respectively. The work juxtaposes the harsh realities of economic survival with the hollow sentiments of modern life.
