The use of totems in Africa and certainly in Akan culture is commonplace and Djéka’s rendition of totem-meeting-Westernised-toy is a forthright marriage of both worlds.
Djéka often incorporates collages and cartoons into his works, an intended commentary on the loss of the innocence of youth.
