Acrylics on canvas, not framed nor stretched.
The work focuses on the process of painting, and the process of "belonging". The edges of the canvas are deliberately left raw, unpolished, with loose threads hanging down. The initial stages of the painting process are visible in the gridlines, the watery underpainting, and the unpainted parts of canvas. The painting "lingers" for a while, a captured moment of a work in progress, and presents a painting that celebrates the making process and the often ongoing search of belonging.
The imagery in the painting was inspired by the designs on ceramic tiles found in my current city of Seville, Spain. "Linger I" can be displayed either framed (but not stretched, to leave the sides and edges visible) or fastened directly to the wall with small nails or magnets.
