“...We say in our Waoule way of thinking, in our culture, that the woman ... gives life. God creates and the woman gives life”. This intensely coloured artwork explores Djéka’s fascination with women as priestesses of power–in their communities and homes and to whom all humankind owes a level of awe and indeed worship. The omnipotent presence of the subject is evident and like with his other work, the use of intense colour and light conveys a powerful mood.
