His Kasiflavour series celebrates the resilience and spirit of black South African communities, drawing inspiration from the culture and people of his hometown. Following his sold-out debut at the 2025 Investec Cape Town Art Fair and a feature in Vogue’s touching tribute to the late Koyo Kouoh ‘The Outsize Artistic Legacy of Koyo Kouoh', Rooi continues to gain recognition for his authentic storytelling and nuanced reflections on identity, family, and place. Through his work, he reclaims cultural narratives and offers viewers a tender, yet unflinching, view into contemporary life in South Africa.
