Naissance

This artwork is part of my body of work entitled "Mythologies of Time". The work is part of a my exploration into the use of AI image generators as tools in my artistic practice. That is, in some of my work, I have looked at how the generative capabilities of AI could be used as a chaotic device which allows me to further explore my technique by way of dealing with their imagistic disruptions brought about by me inputing my in progress work through AI. The result of this often surpises me as I realise what the final composition is meant to be. In the case of "Naissance," the work  is a rich tapestry of symbolism. Behind the central figure of a young man, a cluster of skulls evokes themes of mortality, history, and the remnants of past conflicts. The red foliage behind the figure suggests both life and death, blood and rebirth, creating a stark contrast that speaks to the cyclical nature of existence. And it is in this use of symbolism that I engage the viewer so that they may infer their own story from the piece.
