The performance or piece is choreographed using fragmented portraits layered into a single composition. These found portraits are physically overlaid, warped and distorted to compose an image suggesting theatrical movement within the frame.
A vintage music roll, containing perforations to represent musical playing notes, acts as a figurative score to the performances.
The flow of abstract lines and patterns found on the roll are used to compliment the forms created through movement of the human performance.
Throughout the process, physical marks and traces are retained in the final piece. These marks build onto each other creating a texture reflecting each stage of the image making process with the various layers evoking movement and physicality from static imagery.
