`FROZEN' is from a body of work created by the celebrated gender inclusivity activist and artist residency founder, Va Bene Fiatsi. The work is driven by an intimate performance piece that uses ritual to undress our misplaced perceptions of `man, `woman' and our reluctance to conceive  of any other alternatives. The work arrests and stops us in our tracks by demystifying and deconstructing self-ideated expressions of gender and sexual identity on the individuals own terms. Many trans and gender non-conforming persons are still pressured to make assertions of `self through the body by choosing from within a binary - male or female. The artist is known for their skilful and imaginative deconstructions and interrogation of rights, visibility and celebrations of the freedom to be in the bodies we feel comfortable in. This series works with powerful themes of boxing sexual and gender identities and queering the physical body with expectations of what can and should be represented by any one person in the expression of their identity.
