The series of portraits was released in 2019 on what would have been Hugh's 80th birthday (4 April) and is officially endorsed by the Hugh Masekela Heritage Foundation. Proceeds of the sales go towards raising funds for the HMHF and their various initiatives such as scholarships for young South African musicians to attend the NY School of Jazz where Hugh Masekela and Miriam Makeba were enrolled in the 1960s.
