My work explores complexities of my identity , my Zulu cultural heritage ,and my families and peoples migration. Through my body of work, I honour my historical time line. I was introduced to art by my grandmother , a former primary school teacher. I incorporate material culture to symbolise where I come from. I would describe my work as contemporary with the blend of traditional art influenced by the old Masters, Rembrandt and Leonardo Da Vinci. I would like my audience to create a dialogue that would reflect on the struggles and triumphs of migration and cultural identity.

For me print making as an art medium is versatile and allows me to explore possibilities of conceptualisation as far as my journey is concerned. I connect with etching for its meditative process, as it also signifies the careful weaving of a reed mat and gradual growth of an aloe regardless of its harsh environment it thrives in .As an artist I am inspired by KZN landscapes and the movement of the people carrying energy and courage to overcome adversity, daily. Making art is my coping mechanism to breathe, survive, and live in defence of optimism.
